I keep trying to draw a cute and naive young heroine, but it keeps coming out like this.
Updating with a cleaned up version of a drawing from an earlier post. Needs better editing, and re-doing the ribbon with vectors was a bad idea. But overall pretty satisfied.
a sketch for an outfit i ended up not making, used to practice color coordination in painter.
it's actually pretty nerve-wracking to post to a blog. i dislike the idea of leaving evidence of shortcomings and faults, let alone having it be so easily accessible and immortalized by the internet. the uncolored bow at the hem is killing me. on one hand, it's just a sketch for color practice, so why worry? on the other, it's evidence of absentmindedness *and* laziness if left uncorrected. then again, public opinion has never been a very heavy chain. nor would evidence of such character faults really affect the campaign of any associates potentially running for office. finally, i *am* absentminded and lazy. so why pretend otherwise?
and while i'm at it, there needs to be less knee-jerk pigeonholing of asian girls with any sort of individual awareness of style into "harajuku girl/FRUiTS/japanese street kid." because believe it or not, some asian people really can dress themselves, and are not from the pages of a "wacky japan" coffee table book or the latest neo-orientalist pop music act. i mean, goddamn. i just want to wear polka dot pants.
A rough from a side project in progress. A modified, slightly feminized version of the World of Warcraft Alliance crest. (You guys can probably guess who this is for. . .)
